Ruston Artisans: Learning to Draw - Gesture, Contour and Volume, Charlie Meeds

Tap into your inner artist, brush up on your skills, or become inspired with this fun and relaxing workshop presented by artist Charlie Meeds.

Gesture, Contour, and Volume: Gesture drawing is to a finished figure painting what a haiku poem is to a novel. In this class you will learn to capture this first impression of form and movement on the paper. Gesture drawings are done from life and captures the action of your subject: not what it looks like, but what it's doing. You will also learn contour drawing which depicts form by outlining the edges and how to increase and decrease the volume.

Instructor: Charlie Meeds taught art at LA Tech University from 1970-1984 and continues to teach in the community. He has a BA in Fine Arts with a major in painting and print making. He also holds an MA in Fine Arts. 

Event Cost: Each session is $30.00. A discount will be provided for participants purchasing 3 or more of the classes. 

What to Bring: 11x14 drawing pad, kneaded eraser, at least one each turquoise 2b and 4b pencils. Supplies can be purchased at Fine Line Supply Co. Water, coffee and a snack will be provided.
