The U.S. Department of Labor - Wage and Hour Division - New Orleans District Office (NODO) will partner with federal and state agencies to offer compliance assistance events focused on various provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and other mandates that impact the employers and employees during the current COVID-19 Pandemic. This event will interest employers and their representatives who seek H program (H-2A and H-2B) certification. The NODO’s goal is to share with attendees any changes, updates or trends that impact them. This one-day event will be held virtually and hosted by the Wage and Hour - New Orleans DO. The event will include a panel discussion followed by several workshops. Please see agenda below for each event. The event is provided at no cost to participants, but space is limited. This is a one-stop training opportunity for employers to hear and speak directly with representatives of the agencies involved in workplace issues related to H-2A and H-2B worker visa programs such as wages, recordkeeping, safety and health, housing and transportation, and worksite enforcement. The Department of Labor provides compliance assistance and training events to assist employers in complying with federal workplace laws. Other attending agencies include: Louisiana Workforce Commission, Department of Justice - Immigrant and Employee Rights Section, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. Department of Homeland Security – Immigration and Customs Enforcement Worksite Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Internal Revenue Service, and Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
